The town of Viechtach is situated in the nature forest of the Bavarian Forest and is a state-acknowledged climatic spa. It is here that fans and activity vacationers will find find a host of leisure opportunities: Tours to the quartz rock formations of the Großer and Kleiner Pfahl, to the valley loop of the Schwarzer Regen or to the Kronberg from where you can enjoy a lovely view of Viechtal and the Regen Valley, are very popular with visitors. The skiing regions of Pröller (some 12 kilometres away) and Arber (35 km) as well as numerous cross-counrty skiing runs attract many a winter sports fan into the region.Attractions for culture vultures are the “Glass Barn” in Raubühl, the crystal museum, the Vault of Secrets and the Nostalgia Museum while fauna freaks are likely to be be amazed by the many species of animals kept in the Bayerwald Animal Park in Lohberg. Other attractions in the area particularly suited for families visiting are the wildlife corridor between Viechtach and and Gotteszell, various boat and canoeing tours on the Schwarze Regen river or on the Höllenstein dam. The Knaus Camping Park in Viechtach is located in the Bavarian Forest’s “green heart” on a slightly sloping, partly terraced grassed area with rows of trees and shrubs. The camping park includes a an indoor pool (about 18 x 8m), a restaurant, bar, grill area, mini market, playground, table tennis and table soccer facilities, a small disco and a duck pond. The sauna, bicycle rental service, W-LAN and common washing machine are chargeable, as is the large public open-air swimming pool adjacent to the camping park (admission about € 1,50 per person). Furnishings With a floor space of some 24 m² these mobile homes consist of a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with two single beds and a bunk bed for a toddler. In the living area there is a kitchenette (gas stove, fridge, percolator, microwave etc.) and a couch corner which can be converted into a sleeping couch. The bathroom is equipped with with a shower and a wash basin as well as a separate WC. Each mobile home has a roofed terrace with garden furniture (one table, six chairs and two deckchairs). The following amenities are chargeable: sauna, tanning booth, massages, practice for naturopathy with beauty salon, hairdresser, mini golf course, bicycle rental, tennis court (about 1 km away), electronic games, billiard, bowling, riding stables, common washing machines. Barbecueing is permitted – a barbeque grid can be borrowed free of charge.
